1. Make a pattern or template so that you only have to measure once. Example: Cut a 2"x4" to 14" in length. Measure up 12" and the appropriate distance out for your sheet good.(3/4", 5/8" etc.) TAKE THE EXTRA TIME TO MAKE A GOOD PATTERN!

2. After you drill your 5/8" hole you should check for appropriate size by inserting a sleeve into it. The sleeve should slide in about halfway in if correct. If the fit is too tight you may need to open up the hole by re drilling and wiggling the drill a little to increase the diameter. Check again.

3. After the sleeve is hammered into the wall drill into the sleeve with a 1/2" metal/wood bit. This is part of the installation.

4. When installation is complete the cap is paintable. Paint the cap to match the color of your home.

5. Sometimes it may help to double drill your holes. By that we mean first drill using a 3/8" bit, then use a 5/8" bit. This can help with accuracy.

6. If you use polypropylene or other flat plastic sheet goods you can add small wood strips inside of the plastic on all 4 corners. This gives added support for the clamp to grip onto. This may not be necessary, just an added thought.

7. As you complete installation on each window, label them so that when a storm is approaching your installation will go smooth and quickly. 8. Using a standard drill is okay, but a hammer drill is much easier when drilling cement.
